How do I choose paper size and resolution in PrintFun?

Choose the site language

Physical paper size, image proportions and resolution are different things. Use the correct paper for your printer and inspect the sheet; increasing a DPI value is not a universal fix for quality or size.

  1. Open Configure printer. To redo setup, use Repeat guided calibration for photo paper or Repeat verification for A4. Automatic printing pauses while configuring; sheets already sent to the queue can still print.
  2. In Select printer, choose the device card and select Continue. In Select paper, wait for automatic lookup of sizes reported by the printer. A suggested selection does not confirm which paper is loaded.
  3. Choose the card matching the loaded paper and check its dimensions in millimeters. The app distinguishes printer-reported, generic and saved sizes. Check generic options on the printer and in its driver. If lookup fails, check that the printer is available and try again; do not choose an approximate size to compensate.
  4. The commercial 10×15 label may refer to different measurements, such as 100×150 mm, 101.6×152.4 mm (4×6 inches) or 105×156 mm. Use dimensions and media supported by your printer; this does not mean every printer accepts all these sizes.
  5. Filling photo paper may crop edges when the image and paper have different proportions. For A4, PrintFun fits the whole image within the printable area, preserves proportions and allows white margins. Those margins may depend on the printer and image.
  6. In Default (recommended), PrintFun uses the resolution reported by the printer; the advanced DPI field is disabled. In Compatibility, that field can be edited. Do not switch to 300 DPI or another fixed value expecting to fix every issue. The code resizes the image for printing but does not establish one mandatory input pixel resolution for all paper sizes.
  7. Complete the guided workflow and inspect the sheet before saving. If you use Advanced settings… and Apply adjustments, you still need to verify printing and finish setup. Reviewing paper without changing printer and size preserves current readings; changing the target or size requires adjustment again. Returning to the dashboard restores the previous pause state.
